Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what contact lenses to order?

Contact lenses come in many varieties incorporating different sizes, optical powers and are made from different materials to enable the contact lenses to be used for individual purposes. To find the right contact lens for your eyes you will need to have your eyes examined by an Optometrist. Once you obtain a prescription from your Optometrist you can order all your contact lenses here at Netlens at discounted rates.

Do I need a script?

Yes. To order contact lenses on Netlens you need to acknowledge that you are in possession of a current script. Our ordering service will ask you to check a box saying that you do have a script and that it is in date when you place your order. Scripts have a validity of 2 years.

I can’t find my script, can I still order?

Yes. If you’re sure your script is still valid and you have the box of your previous contact lenses you can simply get the script off the box. If you don’t have an old box and you can’t remember your script you will need to call your optometrist to have them send you a copy of your script.

Can I use my spec script to order contact lenses?

No. Spectacle scripts and contact lens scripts are different.

Can I try a different brand of contact lenses?

If you are not happy with the contact lenses you are currently wearing you will need to make an appointment with your optometrist to have an eye examination to determine the alternative contact lenses suitable for you. What comes as one script in one brand may not equal the same script in another brand. In addition to this different lenses are designed to allow different levels of oxygen and moisture to your eyes. Some brands may not be suitable for your personal requirements and as such this is a decision best left to your optometrist.

Can I try contact lenses for the first time?

Of course, however you will not be able to order them from this site. You will need to make an appointment with your optometrist so that they are able to determine a lens which fits your eye correctly to ensure comfort and suitability for your needs. In addition to this you will need to be properly trained in their insertion and removal and also trained in how to care for your lenses. This is all best left to your eye care professional.

How often should I have my eyes checked?

It is recommended that everyone should have their eyes tested every two years. However if you should notice that your sight is deteriorating or changing in any way, or you are experiencing problems with your vision we encourage you to see your optometrist sooner than this. Should your optometrist detect any areas of concern with your eyes they should tell you when you need to visit them again.

Is your website secure?

Yes completely. Your information is not stored on our website and all of your details are sent via encryption. Look for the security symbol in the payment screen.

How do I pay for my contact lenses?

We accept all major credit cards, you will be prompted for your card details at the checkout screen. Your details will then be sent via secure encryption to our online payment gateway and you will receive confirmation of payment instantaneously.

The amount of your refund will depend on your fund and the type of cover you have. Please contact your health fund for any further information.
